OUR CHURCH HISTORY
In 2019 Mount Moriah Temple Baptist Church will Celebrate its 100th year as a place of worship in the City of Philadelphia.
Founded in 1919 by Rev. Dr. William Mark Bell, We have had a long and proud tradition of serving the community beginning as a migration stop for African Americans that migrated from the south. The Historic Building Sign (shown to the left) documents the history of our great church which in addition to a place of worship, Mount Moriah provided housing, employment services and served as a burial society for southern migrants.
Today that tradition lives on as the Church still serves as a house of worship as well as provides food, clothing and other services to the community.
